[NTD News October 1, 2021, Beijing time]After power cuts in many places in mainland China, there is news that the Russian state-owned power export company has received a request from the CCP to increase power supply.

On September 29, Reuters reported that Inter RAO, the Russian state-owned power export company, said on the same day that they had received a request from China to increase power supply.

According to the report, Inter RAO stated that China’s northern provinces are facing a shortage of electricity supply. Power cuts in some areas of China paralyzed local industrial output.

On the same day, Reuters reported in another report that a spokesperson for Inter RAO said that China is requesting more electricity to be exported to the power-deficient areas in northern China, and the company is considering a substantial increase in exports.

According to the report, last year, Inter RAO’s electricity exports to China decreased by 1.3% to 3.06 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh). In the first half of this year, it decreased to 1.25 billion kilowatt-hours, a decrease of 7.2% from the same period last year.

The transmission line between China and Russia can provide up to 7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity each year.

It is reported that on September 28, Han Jun, governor of Jilin Province of the Communist Party of China, said that he would step up the purchase of coal from Russia, Mongolia and Indonesia. However, the report said that the Russian Ministry of Energy stated that it has not yet received a request to increase coal exports to China.
