Oh Jae-won (39), a former national baseball team member, who is suspected of drug use, was taken into custody and handed over to trial.

On the 17th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office’s Violent Crime Investigation Department (Chief Prosecutor Kim Yeon-sil) investigated violations of the Act on Aggravated Punishment for Specific Crimes (threats of retaliation, etc.), violations of the Act on Narcotic Drugs Management (Hyangjeong), damage to special property, fraud, violation of the National Health Insurance Act, and resident registration. It was announced that Oh Jae-won, who is suspected of violating the law, has been arrested and indicted.

According to the prosecution’s investigation, Oh Jae-won is accused of taking Philopon a total of 11 times over a period of one year from November 2022 and storing 0.4 grams of Philopon in a fire hydrant in the hallway of an acquaintance’s apartment.

He was also charged with receiving 2,242 Steelnox tablets from 9 acquaintances on 89 occasions from January last year to March this year, and purchasing 20 Steelnox tablets using the names of acquaintances.

It was found that Oh Jae-won hit his cell phone with a hammer, threatened him, and grabbed him by the collar to stop him from reporting Philopon use.

The prosecution said, “We will take strict action against the spread of narcotics and continue to investigate accomplices and female criminals in close consultation with the police.”
