UDINE. The district of San Paolo-Sant’Osvaldo loses one of its symbols. Francesco Romanello, 86, a historic merchant, died Friday, who from 1962 to 2000 ran a grocery store in via Napoli, together with his wife Valeria. He married her in 1959, raising two children, Luigi and Marco.

As soon as the news of his disappearance spread in the neighborhood, many wanted to publish a thought on social media, remembering Cesco or Checo (as he was called by his friends) and his legendary sandwiches, with which he fed entire generations of young people from Udine.
