The mayor of Raillencourt-Sainte-Olle, France, close to the Belgian border, issued a striking municipal decree on Tuesday: from now on it is forbidden for snow to fall on his village. That’s what La Voix du Nord writes.
Mayor Bernard De Narda was not pleased with the numerous criticism from the residents of his municipality regarding the use of municipal services in clearing the snow. “We have received countless messages and calls, our phones turned red because we received so many. And why? For four centimeters of snow?”, says De Narda.
“Sixty years ago there was also snow, and there were no snow plows. And yet people then also ran out of going to work. We have to learn to respect the seasons again.” The mayor also did not like the tone of the criticism. “I experienced a lack of respect. The mayor simply cannot be held responsible for everything,” he said.
To accommodate his critics, De Narda issued a ban on snow falling on his municipality. We have to wait for the next winter injection to see whether the snow adheres to that ban.
