The Xingkai Community in Dezhou held a colorful Laba Festival-themed event on January 18th, with the aim of promoting neighborliness and preserving traditional Chinese virtues. The event, titled “Love Laba Festival and Warm Neighborhood,” aimed to spread festive cheer and care to lonely elderly and old party members in the community.

Community staff prepared Laba porridge made from eight ingredients, including glutinous rice, black rice, red beans, red dates, and peanuts, allowing residents to enjoy the traditional dish early in the morning. Entertainment programs presented by the community art team added to the festive atmosphere, with residents and friends participating in fun interactions and receiving small gifts for answering questions about the Laba Festival.

In addition to the food and entertainment, the community also invited a paper-cutting culture enthusiast to guide everyone in the art of paper-cutting. Residents learned about the cultural significance, techniques, and precautions of paper-cutting, and had the opportunity to create their own paper-cut works filled with blessings and New Year joy.

The Laba Festival activity not only promoted traditional folk culture and strengthened community relationships, but also brought warmth to the elderly and old party members in the community. The event added to the festive atmosphere and improved resident happiness, showcasing the power of community events in bringing people together.
