The Netherlands –
The alleged murder broker of the liquidation of Dutch crime reporter Peter R. de Vries has broken the silence at the trial and apologized to his relatives.
The trial surrounding the murder of well-known crime journalist Peter R. de Vries (64) is in its second week in Amsterdam. Nine suspects are on trial there for the liquidation almost three years ago. This concerns the suspected shooter and his driver. But a 28-year-old Pole is also on trial, as a so-called ‘murder broker’ who brought the clients and executors into contact with each other. On Tuesday, he was the first suspect to apologize to the son and daughter of Peter R. de Vries and broke the silence. “I don’t have the heart to let them go through life without any explanation,” he stated. The man also felt ‘under pressure’, he also said. “There were things said to me that I didn’t want to repeat. Very intense things. If I could go back, I would have done it differently. Once again: I’m sorry.”
The Public Prosecution Service asked the Amsterdam court to convict all nine suspects and says there is enough evidence to do so. (mkm)
