The day for taking statements from Victims of the Armed Conflict was completed in Yopal – news

With the start of the 2024 rainy season, the Yopal Territorial Office for Risk and Disaster Management is carrying out a series of preventive and verification actions at different points in the urban and rural area of the city.

The objective is to evaluate and respond with appropriate actions at this time of year. Below are the highlights:

Verification in Critical Areas:

Inspection visits have been carried out in the industrial zone and in the Cerro El Venado sector, areas with a history of risk. Our team is evaluating current conditions to take appropriate action.

Intervention in Sectors Affected by Undermining:

We continue to intervene in the sectors where the greatest impact due to scour in the Cravo Sur River has been identified. In the sector known as La Manga, a partition of the water body is being implemented to reduce the intensity of the waters towards the sides of the river.

Recommendations for the Community

Maintenance of Downspouts:

We urge the community to carry out maintenance on the rainwater downspout channels to avoid obstructions that affect the normal flow of water. Proper functioning of the canals is essential for proper drainage.

Surveillance in Rural Environments:

In rural areas, it is important to carry out permanent surveillance in pipes, streams and rivers, since they can experience sudden floods that affect the physical integrity of people.

Faced with a Crescent:

If a flood occurs, refrain from crossing any body of water and immediately contact the relief agencies and the Territorial Risk Management Office for a timely response.
