CALUSO

The removal and disposal of several slabs of asbestos abandoned in an agricultural land located in the “Rio Vallunga” area, on the border with Montanaro, costs just under 1000 euros to the Municipality.

The cement and asbestos artifacts were discovered by local police officers who took steps to secure the area and initiate the necessary procedures, which were then entrusted to the municipal technical office.

«The reclamation intervention – explains the mayor Maria Rosa Cena – was urgent due to the risk of dispersion of asbestos fibers in the environment with problems for public health. We therefore entrusted the removal and remediation to the Global service company in Settimo Vittone, which sent the work plan to ASL / To4, as required by law ». Meanwhile, the investigations of the municipal police are proceeding to trace the authors of the abandonment. Not an easy task: to unload them in that countryside area, without video surveillance cameras, the unknown people undoubtedly used a truck. It is not the first time that the Municipality has to provide for the removal of asbestos in the area: last year the usual crafty had abandoned slabs of cement and asbestos, most likely resulting from the renovation of a house, near paths among the Erbaluce vineyards. Meanwhile, the mapping of the territory is in the pipeline to verify the overall presence of asbestos in disused warehouses and in old houses wanted by the mayor.L.m.
