The first orange warning for severe convection since 2013! Emergency evacuation guide for local winds reaching level 12 or above in some areas
Recently, many places in my country have encountered severe convective weather. The Central Meteorological Observatory upgraded and issued an orange warning for severe convective weather at 18:00 today (2nd). This is the first orange warning for severe convective weather since 2013. It is also the first time that the Central Meteorological Observatory has issued the highest level warning for severe convective weather since the Central Meteorological Observatory established the meteorological disaster warning standard.
The Central Meteorological Observatory predicts:
From 20:00 on the 2nd to 20:00 on the 3rd, some areas in southern Anhui, southern Jiangsu, Shanghai, southeastern Hubei, eastern and central southern Hunan, Jiangxi, western Zhejiang, northwest Fujian, northeastern Guangxi, and other places will have level 10 or above. In thunderstorms and strong winds or hail weather, the local wind force can reach level 12 or above, and the maximum hail diameter is more than 20 mm;
There will be short-term heavy rainfall in parts of southern Anhui, southern Jiangsu, Shanghai, eastern and southern Hunan, Jiangxi, western Zhejiang, western Fujian, southeastern Guizhou, northeastern Guangxi, and northwest Guangxi, with a maximum hourly rainfall of 30~ 50 mm, and locally, it can reach more than 70 mm.
How to avoid danger when encountering strong convective weather?
Homeowners need to be careful on windy days
In windy weather, avoid going out as much as possible, and stay vigilant while staying at home.
Properly place and secure flowerpots and other outdoor objects that are easily blown.
Close the doors and windows and put “rice” tape on the window glass to prevent the glass from breaking.
Stay away from windows to prevent strong winds from sweeping sand and gravel, breaking the glass and injuring people.
Be careful when going out on windy days
Avoid the “narrow tube effect”
When walking or biking, avoid walking in narrow passages between high-rise buildings. Long and narrow passages will create a “narrow tube effect” and the wind will increase in the passage, causing danger to pedestrians.
Be careful of falling objects from heights
Stay away from poorly installed billboards, street trees with dry trunks, and residential buildings with debris to avoid accidents caused by falling objects from heights.
Take protective measures
Pay attention to wearing dust-proof supplies such as masks and gauze to prevent sand and dust blown up by strong winds from causing damage to the eyes and respiratory system.
Be careful when driving on windy days
Be cautious and calm in times of danger
When driving on the highway, you should understand the impact of side winds in advance and be prepared.
Driving slowly to prevent deviation
When driving on a windy day, the sight distance is short. During driving, you should pay attention to driving slowly to prevent the vehicle from drifting.
Avoid large vehicles
Try to avoid large vehicles, such as overloaded, over-height, over-wide, trailers, tankers, hazardous chemicals, and other special vehicles.
Close the windows and secure the cargo
Keep the windows closed. The air conditioner switches to internal circulation mode to prevent outside air from being sucked into the car.
When driving a light vehicle, in order to avoid being blown up by strong winds when driving at high speed, it is best to put some heavy objects on the vehicle and drive at a slow speed.
When driving a freight vehicle, be sure to tie the goods on the vehicle firmly to prevent them from being blown off by the wind and endangering road safety.
