The Ministry of Education Launches Artificial Intelligence-Empowered Education Action

Beijing, March 29 – The Ministry of Education recently held a launch ceremony for the Special Action for the Integration, Intelligentization and Internationalization of Digital Education and the “Year of Expanding Quality and Improving Quality” in Beijing, marking the second anniversary of the National Smart Education Platform. One of the highlights of the event was the official launch of an artificial intelligence-empowered education action.

Wu Yan, a member of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Education and Vice Minister, announced that the National Smart Education Platform will introduce an “AI Learning” column. This column will feature lectures by renowned scientists, top engineers, and entrepreneurs on artificial intelligence in general education, as well as courses taught by famous teachers in the field. The platform will also offer 85 ‘golden courses’ from 64 prestigious schools, along with artificial intelligence-themed micro-courses to help young students understand and engage with the topic.

Looking ahead, the Ministry of Education plans to launch a large model application demonstration action for artificial intelligence in the education system. This initiative aims to create a dedicated large model for generative education, with the goal of setting a benchmark for the industry through advanced algorithms, high-quality data sets, and improved services.

Furthermore, the Ministry aims to promote the integration of AI into digital education and make the platform more accessible internationally. Plans include introducing an AI intelligent translation function to convert Chinese educational content into multiple languages, allowing international users to access and utilize the platform. This initiative is part of a broader effort to engage with global partners through the World Digital Education Alliance, the International Journal of Digital Education, and the Digital Education Development Index.
