TREVISO. A message of hope reached the hearts of the Treviso people on Tuesday evening, when the Palazzo dei Trecento lit up with the tricolor, thanks to the initiative of the Tribuna of Treviso and Paolo Grossi of Musicstaff Italia, who wanted to give a night of magic to the city.

“Remember and start again” – as he explained the director of the four Venetian newspapers of the Gedi group, Fabrizio Brancoli, presenting the initiative – these are the two symbolic words of the evening, staged starting at 9 pm. The setting chosen for the initiative, welcomed by the municipality of Treviso and by the mayor Mario Conte, is that of Piazza dei Signori, the heart button of the city for many months unfortunately remained deserted and motionless in its beauty, which yesterday was revived as it did not happen since the lockdown.

Our special back cover

Lights pointed, in the true sense of the word, on Palazzo dei Trecento, a historic monument, a symbol of Treviso that he wants to start living and redeem himself, of the culture that nourishes the spirit that suffered a sharp slowdown during the pandemic. The meaning is threefold: remembering the victims of Covid, the many people who lost their lives in these painful months, one of the darkest historical periods of modern society.

But also to strongly emphasize the importance of all those who make a living from entertainment, from artists to event organizers, the many “insiders” who make evenings like this one, symbolized by Grossi, possible. And above all, last but not least, the message to remain united in front of the tricolor, on the occasion of the Republic Day.

Treviso, a tricolor of lights on the Palazzo dei Trecento for the feast of the Republic

The show started shortly after 9pm, with some themed plays of light, which have taken up the mighty architecture of

Palazzo, then to open the dances the director Fabrizio Brancoli, who introduced himself to the spectators, underlining the meaning of the event and the homage to the city of the “dottorsax”.

«This 1185 palace has seen all the colors, they bombed it but it is still here, and it is the testimony of what men can do when they commit themselves: they resist, rebuild and do the most beautiful things than before, “said the director. “The tricolor lights up Piazza dei Signori to tell us that Italy is alive and ready, we are here to remember and start all over again”.

Grossi, versatile Tuscan artist, saxophonist and event organizer, who is touring Italy lighting the squares, left the Treviso people gathered under the Loggia speechless, playing the splendid “My Way”, made famous by Frank Sinatra, making people move to the rhythm of young people to the notes of his music. Before the piece cult, all standing with their hands on their chests, to the Mameli Hymn. And then The Silence, to think of the loved ones who left us before their time, due to Covid.

For Treviso even an “encore” under the Palazzo, at the great request of the public. A sign of hope and rebirth, after the long months of the pandemic that has upset the world and forced everyone to change habits. Lights and music to start again, but also for remember the commitment of the health workers, the sacrifices of citizens, not least a flag that symbolizes a country who knew how to roll up their sleeves. Many onlookers and people arrived on purpose, who had read about the initiative or listened to the live broadcast of the exhibition.

In the air you could breathe the desire to go out, to return to stroll through the streets and streets of the center. Symbol of this desire Elisa Solenne, Laura Kolaj and Diletta Carlesso, three very young friends who had themselves photographed with the background of the colors of the flag projected on the facade of the building overlooking via XX Settembre and piazzetta Aldo Moro. Gabriella and Mara, two retired friends, waited patiently for the start, very happy to return to their square. “We came on purpose to see the show, a really nice initiative”.

MAYOR

Light symbol of identity, and tenacity of a people

The tricolor has always represented national identity. This year, in particular, means solidarity and closeness. In a crucial but delicate moment in republican history that follows fifteen dramatic months, at times indecipherable, we find in that tricolor that illuminated Palazzo dei Trecento the strength, tenacity and dignity of a people.

June 2 wants to be a day of hope for those who have stopped, those who have suffered and those who have had to wait with the shutters down amidst a thousand uncertainties but also a day of gratitude to those who did not miss their presence: health personnel, law enforcement agencies, civil protection, the Alpine troops, people united by a great sense of duty and an enormous aptitude for work, often carried out on a voluntary basis.

On April 26, a new but very important phase of the emergency began: the improvement of the general situation and a renewed but efficient management of the vaccination campaign on a national scale, allowed all of us to look to the immediate future without that sense of disorientation and that fear that had characterized the previous months. We live this June 2 with completely different sensations than in the past but above all with a desire to plan, to realize projects, dreams and initiatives.

And with a different awareness: if, on the one hand, the “coexistence” with a virus has begun which, albeit in a reduced way, still makes its presence felt, on the other, thanks to the immunization of the weakest groups from citizenship, we defeated fear, the only obstacle to a relaunching future, liveliness, tourism and opportunities for everyone.

I thank the Tribuna di Treviso which promoted the initiative to illuminate our most important symbol of “resilience”, Palazzo dei Trecento, with the colors of the Italian flag that we mayors also proudly wear on the band.

And a special thanks goes naturally to those who have allowed all this, that is to say to the artist Paolo Grossi, the author of the light show, and to the friends of Musicstaff. The power of the images is well known to all. I am sure that, also thanks to this symbolic gesture, we will be able to transmit and renew the attachment to the fundamental values and principles that support the Republic. –
