(www.iLMeteo.it) – After more than three months of drought, the rain is about to return. In the North but not only. And there will also be a lot of snow, essential to replenish the almost dry Italian water reserves. Antonio Sanòdirector and founder of the site www.iLMeteo.it, underlines that from Wednesday 30 March the high pressure, after guaranteeing two more sunny days this week, will give way to the arrival of perturbations that – driven by Libeccio winds and Scirocco, and fed by fresh air at high altitude – will reach Italy causing widespread rainfall, sometimes even abundant.
The regions involved
The phenomenon will mainly concern the Northern regions but also those of the Center and Campania, Basilicata and Puglia. We therefore expect at least 5 days of highly unstable weather with the rains that will repeatedly wet the Center-North and part of the South.
Snow since Friday, even in the Apennines
A separate chapter will be that linked to the snow that will begin to fall on the highest peaks of the Alps, but from Friday 1 April, with the entry of gradually colder air directly from the North Pole, the altitude will drop abruptly even below a thousand meters. The accumulations at the end of the event can be important above 1,300 meters with almost 30/40 centimeters of white mantle. There will also be room for snowfall in the Apennines, again from Friday, above 1,200 meters.
The cold returns
But in addition to rain and snow, this phase of bad weather will cause temperatures to drop, at least the maximum. The thermal values, currently above the average of 4/5 ° C, will drop by about 10 ° C, reaching no more than 10/12 ° C during the day, especially in the North. On the contrary, the nocturnal values, due to the coverage of the sky and the mild winds of Scirocco and Libeccio, will increase by almost 8 ° C.

Tuesday 29 March. In the North: clouds rising to overcast skies. Center: gradually overcast sky in Sardinia with rain showers in the evening. In the South: prevailing sun.
Wednesday 30th March. In the North: covered with gradually more widespread rains. Middle: bad weather over almost all regions. In the South: rains in Campania, Puglia and Basilicata, less intense in the other southern regions.
