(ABC News) — Tragedy struck early Tuesday morning on Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge as a cargo ship weighing more than 96,600 tons crashed into the bridge, throwing construction workers into dangerously cold water. The workers, who were on the night shift fixing potholes on the bridge, were left for dead after authorities suspended the rescue mission due to the harsh conditions.
Authorities have recovered the bodies of two of the construction workers, identified as Alejandro Hernández Fuentes of Mexico and Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera of Guatemala, from a pickup truck in the water, Maryland State Police reported on Wednesday.
