The coordinator of the Brothers of Italy VdA: ‘the League is clamoring to go to the government. We are the only political force that exposes itself against the system ‘
“In the Region there is no longer any opposition. During the last Valle Council I witnessed certain pantomimes, scenes in which everything is said and the opposite of everything in order to stay there. The League, and I am sorry to say, is clamoring to be able to enter the government after having said all sorts of things against the Union Valdôtaine ». Alberto Zucchi, the coordinator of Fratelli d’Italia Valle d’Aosta, does not use half words to describe the current political situation at the regional palace.
It was Zucchi, together with the party he coordinates, who in recent weeks brought to light unclear situations and doubts regarding the work of top representatives of regional policy and the USL. Only later did these issues come to the attention of the forces that sit in the Valle Council. “Parentopoli, hires, temporary workers, but everyone remains silent,” accuses Zucchi. “It seems to me that the Brothers of Italy, although not in the Council, is the only political force that exposes and expresses itself against this system, against this molasses all folded inside the Palace.”
Outside the Palace, however, everything happens: ‘Ndrangheta, inquiries reopened on the death of the deputy Gex, investigations. It seems that the regional borders contain many “mysteries” of which little is spoken. «Curzio Maltese – continues the coordinator of FdI VdA – has defined this region as the cradle of real socialism. Here everything depends on the Region. This is why there is a level of silence that is similar, if not superior, to that of other realities where silence has become famous throughout the world. Here the Region permeates so many families and so many businesses that there is fear of exposing oneself, of expressing oneself, because there is the fear of reactions. “If you are not aligned, I will crush you” ».
For many large cities, from Milan to Naples, administrative elections are on the way. “The center-right candidates are shared so the alliance is maintained,” explains Zucchi. Then it will be the turn of politics, “maybe in 2023. We hope – says Zucchi – to be able to give the nation a government that is an expression of the vote and not of palace games. The PD lost the elections and has been governing for I don’t know how many years. Maybe after the elections for the President of the Republic we will be able to go back to the polls and I hope that the center-right can express a strong majority. The current ambaradan in Rome does not convince us ».
In Italy, polls show Fratelli d’Italia in strong growth in recent months, ever closer to the League. “How do you explain? With consistency. Our president Giorgia Meloni has shown that she is a leader with all the trimmings, she has always kept her word on the fundamental points and has finally received feedback from the electorate who has noticed the seriousness of the proposal. But the polls remain polls and the true indication of reality is given by the votes. However, if a good day starts in the morning, at this moment we are happy with the attention given to the party ».
The situation in Valle d’Aosta is different. In the 2020 regional elections Fratelli d’Italia, allied with Forza Italia, failed to return to the Regional Council. The party, always allied with FI, took part in the race for the mayor of Aosta and elected its own representative in the municipal council of the capital. What is the strategy now? “We try, in particular, to get the party the same attention that the national party has at this moment, even if the Aosta Valley is something different,” explains Zucchi.
The thought is projected to the next appointments with the polls. According to Zucchi, the ideal would be «also in Valle d’Aosta a proposal that represents the Center-right as it is commonly understood: Brothers of Italy, Lega and Forza Italia, plus the movements that recognize themselves in this area of thought. The test case is that of politics. I’m curious to see what the League’s attitude will be ».
