The Dutch football record champions Ajax Amsterdam have to look for a new coach for the coming season.

The current head coach John van’t Schip announced before the away game against FC Zwolle on Easter Sunday (March 31, 2024) that he would no longer be available for the job in the coming season. Instead, he will take on another role within the club in consultation with the club management.

The 1988 European champion took over the crisis-ridden Ajax team as interim coach in October 2023 after the dismissal of Maurice Steijn.

The 60-year-old van’t Schip led the team from last place in the Eredivisie to fifth place, and the chances of a place in the European Cup are intact again.
