Elseid Hysaj at the time of his arrival at the retreat he had to pass through the canonical initiation rite in which the newly acquired sings at the table during the team dinner. The former Naples chose to sing “Bella Ciao”, and part of the supporters of the Lazio did not like this choice because it is distant from the political vision of these characters. After some unpleasant comments arrived against the player on social media, a banner with the words “Hysaj worm, Lazio is fascist” also appeared in Rome, from which the club immediately and correctly wanted to distance itself. In fact, in the morning, a tough club statement arrived against this fringe of fans.

“The Lazio Sports Society firmly condemns the shameful banner against the player Elseid Hysaj. It is not the first episode of this kind. We will never be on the side of those who deny the values of sport. We are without delay instead on the side of our athlete and of all the other players involved in the pre-season retreat in recent weeks. We clearly distance ourselves from those who want to exploit for political purposes this story that damages the team, all Lazio fans and the Club. We will not be intimidated by those who use violent and aggressive tones: for them there is no space in our world which instead is inspired by the healthy sporting values of loyalty and competition, mutual respect and civil coexistence and aimed at overcoming all barriers of a social, cultural, economic and racial nature ” .
