The Atletico Madrid coach talked about plans with the Juventus captain. Pozzo is adamant on the price: 15% will have to turn it to Valencia, 5% to Racing
UDINE. Money, of course. There will be many and they will be the ones to determine the farewell of Rodrigo De Paul from Udinese, for a sale announced for some time by both sides, but there is a club and a coach who, in addition to money, has another persuasive way to reach the set market goals. The club in question is Atletico from Madrid and the coach is that Diego Pablo Simeone who can be called the architect of the cycle of victories of the mattresses, with the last Liga just won at the expense of the banks of all time Real and Barcelona.
Simeone at Atletico earns 12 million euros a year and his management follows the one he had Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, with a role as a coach ready to embrace that of sporting director.
Just to remember that no player arrives at Atletico who is not personally attended to, chosen and evaluated by the coach, and this is enough to understand that when Simeone wants a player, the organizing machine of the president Enrique Cerezo starts moving. And if that’s not enough, he himself takes action, exactly as happened with De Paul, who did not have the “Cholito” number among the numbers in his mobile phone book.
The call came as a surprise and Simeone did not look for the Udinese captain to ask him “how are you?” or weather conditions. The two, on the other hand, talked about plans for a future that De Paul, increasingly the owner of the Argentina national team who will debut in Copa America on Sunday against Chile, could find in Madrid, where the ten Juventus would like to go, but only in the second place because his first preference remains the Serie A.
This is filtered by the entourage of the player who seemed to like Milan so much, at least until a couple of weeks ago. Then “radio market” changed frequency, tuning in to the “long waves” of Madrid, where the Atletico managers have already called Pozzo home twice.
The first they offered 20 million plus the Argentine defender Perez, while the latter came to put 30 million on the pot, while dealing with Mino Raiola who has the power of attorney for De Paul. The offer to the player has already been formulated on the basis of an annual contract at 3.2 million euros for five years.
All figures that seem to show some progress in the negotiation, which however is not considered satisfactory by Udinese, because at least 40 million are needed for the Argentine’s card.
The Pozzos, in fact, are well aware that the percentages must be deducted from the requested amount, given that Udinese will have to pay the consideration of 15% of the future sale to Valencia, as per formal agreements between the two companies at the time of the purchase of De Paul (2016), with the addition of another 5% to be paid to Racing in Avellaneda.
The Argentine club, in fact, is entitled to the percentage as established by a modification of the solidarity contribution which provides for the percentage to be distributed in favor of the clubs involved in the formation of the player during the seasons from 12th to 23rd of age, but only in the case in which the player is transferred before the expiration of his contract.
This is precisely the case of De Paul, who in October 2019 extended with Udinese until 2024, and who has now been personally called by Simeone. Will he accept?
