Chinese Diving Team Announces World Championship Roster, Quan Hongchan Once Again PKed Chen Yuxi

CCTV news: The Chinese diving team has announced the roster for the World Championships in Doha, with 13 athletes set to compete. Among them are world champions and Olympic champions, with a mix of veterans and newcomers. The lineup features the return of veteran Xie Siyi and the inclusion of 13-year-old newcomer Huang Jianjie. The announcement sets the stage for another showdown between Quan Hongchan and Chen Yuxi, who will once again compete against each other.

The specific lineup of the Chinese team includes:
– Men’s 3-meter springboard: Wang Zongyuan, Xie Sizhen
– Men’s synchronized 3-meter springboard: Wang Zongyuan, Long Daoyi
– Women’s 3-meter springboard: Chen Yiwen, Chang Yani
– Women’s synchronized 3-meter springboard: Chen Yiwen, Chang Yani
– Men’s 10m platform: Yang Hao, Cao Yuan
– Men’s synchronized 10-meter platform: Yang Hao, Lian Junjie
– Women’s 10m platform: Chen Yuxi, Quan Hongchan
– Women’s synchronized 10-meter platform: Chen Yuxi, Quan Hongchan
– Men’s 1-meter springboard: Zheng Jiuyuan
– Mixed doubles 10m platform: Zhang Jiaqi, Huang Jianjie

Xie Sizhen, who had previously faded out after winning a double championship in the Tokyo Olympics, has now made a return to the lineup. 13-year-old Huang Jianjie is the only non-world champion member of the lineup. In this World Championships, he will partner with Zhang Jiaqi in the mixed doubles 10-meter platform competition.

The Doha World Championships diving event is the final opportunity for athletes to secure a place in the Paris Olympics. The competition is scheduled to take place from February 2 to 18, 2024, with diving and synchronized swimming competitions set to take place from February 2 to 10. Open water swimming will follow from February 3 to 8, and water polo from February 4 to 17. The swimming competition will then close out the event from February 11 to 18.
