7 JOHNSON
He had to be the star of the team and he did. With his “buzzer beater” he solved at least three games at the last second (above all the one in the play-offs in Trapani), as well as addressing at least another five or six with his baskets in the minutes that burn.
Not a “ball eater”, but a man perfectly placed in the team system. Two moles: he rarely attacked the iron and lacked continuity of performance, even in the 40 minutes of play.
6.5 MUSSINI
He arrived in the most critical phase of the APU season to replace Amato and was immediately appreciated.
Personality and experience at the service of the team, up to the serious injury that forced him to leave the scene. In the play-offs it would have been very useful in Boniciolli’s chessboard.
6.5 DEANGELI
It was one of the bets of the coaching staff and had a great impact in the first part of the championship.
In the long run he had a fluctuating performance, typical of a young man not used to high minutes at certain levels. Down at the end of the season, when the arrival of Mian imposed the turnover in the role of small forward. But the season remains positive
5.5 AMATO
Vote strongly influenced by the many absences due to minor injuries and the long post-operation rehabilitation.
When the physicist supported him, he proved to be an extra weapon, thanks to his skills as a long-range shooter. Bitter ending, as a non-paying spectator: the feeling with Boniciolli was not the best.
7 ANTONUTTI
The captain acted as leader, exactly as he was asked. In the offensive phase, he always gave his precious contribution: talent and a warm hand.
In the hottest phase of the season, during the play-offs, he presented himself in precarious physical conditions: he was able to grit his teeth and really give everything he could to the team.
5 MOBIO
It was one of the bets of the beginning of the season, on balance it can be said that it was not won. From the beginning Boniciolli preferred Deangeli as a small forward in the starting five, he showed some good performances but he never knew how to overturn the hierarchies.
Perhaps he lacked some of the competitive nastiness necessary to make room for himself at certain levels.
6.5 SCHINA
He arrived on the run and on the sly, to lengthen the roster in the external sector. Stakanovista of the parquet, he played for several months on two fronts between Udine and Monfalcone.
Great protagonist in the Italian Cup, he gained confidence and carved out a good time. Less showy in the play-offs, but pans and lids cannot be asked for a 2001 debut in A2.
6 MIAN
Arrived in the pre-playoff transfer window, he was to be the ace of all time. The player is not discussed, but the class was seen only in flashes: he has fenced a few games too many. The mitigating factor is that he didn’t have time to fit into the new reality.
7 FOULLAND
The stars and stripes center is one of the bets won by APU 2020/21. Not a crash, but a great rebounder and a real area intimidator.
It deserves applause for the consistency of performance, there is the feeling that there is significant room for improvement and not just at free throws.
7 JURIES
Lead actor in a remake of “Sliding doors”. Fluctuating performance in the first phase of the season, then the sharp decline in January and the suitcases ready at the beginning of February, with several companies ready to dive into the “prey”.
Then the company’s turnaround, renewed confidence and yield growth, peaking during the play-offs played as an authentic protagonist. With the best Giuri we saw the best Apu.
6.5 NOBLE
The role of “Vito” in this team was well known: man designated to mark the most dangerous of the opponents outside.
Mission accomplished often and willingly, with dedication and sacrifice. He has always known how to carve out his space, even when the turnover threatened to overshadow him.
6 PELLEGRINO
Two-sided season for the Sicilian center. First part decidedly complicated, with little space and perhaps even little serenity. Over time he has been able to pull out his claws and the performance has grown, as has the playing time.
6.5 ITALIANO
They call him the “praetorian” of Boniciolli and now we know why. Player of pure substance, the classic wingman who cannot miss in the midst of the stars. Defensive “Garra”, desire to peel the knees on stray balls, some triple, tactical shrewdness.
SV AGBARA, AZZANO and SPANGARO
Appearances on the field with the dropper, impossible to give a judgment.
