China’s Swimming Team Dominates 2024 Doha World Swimming Championships
Beijing, February 19 – The 2024 Doha World Swimming Championships came to a close on the 19th of February, with the Chinese team emerging as the top medal winner, securing 23 golds, 9 silvers, and 4 bronzes in diving and synchronized swimming. The team displayed exceptional performance, with Tang Qianting winning the silver medal in the women’s 50-meter breaststroke final and setting a new Asian record.
The Chinese swimming team achieved its highest score at the World Championships since 1994. The competition served as a test of the team’s training results, with the Chinese swimming team proving their talent and determination.
The standout performer of the Chinese team was 19-year-old Pan Zhanle, who made history by winning the men’s 4X100m freestyle relay final and breaking the world record. Pan Zhanle also clinched the men’s 100-meter freestyle gold medal and became the “No. 1 Flying Fish” in the world.
Tang Qianting also made a mark by winning the women’s 100-meter breaststroke final, setting a new personal best and breaking a national record.
In the men’s 200-meter breaststroke final, Dong Zhihao staged a stunning comeback and secured the gold medal.
The Chinese team also excelled in relay events, with Li Bingjie and her teammates winning the women’s 4X200m freestyle relay final and Pan Zhanle leading the men’s 4X200m freestyle relay final, marking the first time the team has achieved victory in these events at the World Championships.
