Juventus Turin midfielder Paul Pogba has been handed a four-year suspension by the Italian anti-doping court after testing positive for testosterone in August. The French international, who only played 92 minutes in the season, expressed regret for not signing with Barcelona and reportedly got fed up with coach Carlo Ancelotti.
The news of Pogba’s suspension was confirmed by a source within the club, stating they had received notification from the court. The decision follows the prosecutor’s request against the midfielder and 2018 world champion, in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code.
Pogba, 30, tested positive during a test conducted in August 2023 before a match between Udinese and Juventus, in which he did not participate. The midfielder was provisionally suspended in September and a subsequent test confirmed the presence of testosterone metabolites, which his entourage attributed to a dietary supplement prescribed by a doctor in the United States.
The Italian anti-doping court has not yet responded to requests for comment on the matter. Pogba’s career now hangs in the balance as he faces a lengthy ban from playing football.
