Tricolor seraphim. On the third and final day of the Italian individual Juniores and Promises championships on the Grosseto track, yesterday morning, the standard bearer of the Firex Athletic club Belluno Thomas Serafini became the Italian Juniores champion over the 1500 meters distance.
Before him, on Saturday, another from Belluno, Auronzana Gaia Colli, under the Athletics Valle Brembana, had hit the podium by winning the bronze medal in the 5000 meters promises.
TRIUMPH OF SERAFINI IN THE 1500s
Serafini triumphed with a time of 3.51.61, his new personal best, by over a second behind Achraf Abbane (silver medal in 3.52.65).
«It was a very tough race due to the heat. I knew that I had prepared well », reveals the athlete born in 2003 of the Firex,« and that I could play it on a long sprint. Fortunately, someone launched it early and so, in a long sprint, I managed to get the better of it. Actually, I’m still realizing that I’ve achieved this. It is a very tiring day, even on a physical level. I just managed to make my own. Now I have two seconds left to get the minimum that would allow me to participate in the European Championships. Also on the distance of 1500 meters, yesterday morning, Arianna D’Alberto and Letizia Fontanive also competed. D’Alberto, committed among the Promises, closed in eleventh position (4.39.43 the time of the Ana Feltre athlete). Fontanive, on the other hand, placed twentieth among the Juniors (4.52.98 for the 2002 class of the Firex).
Bronze medal for Gaia Colli
But the three days in Grosseto also gave him a splendid third place. It is the one conquered by Gaia Colli in the five thousand meters. The Cadore born in 1999, engaged in the Promises, competed with the colors of Atletica Valle Brembana and completed her race in 16.31.51. In this case, it was Marta Zenoni, color bearer of another Bergamo club, Oriocenter, who closed her race on 16.07.25.
Colli was not the only one from Belluno who ran for companies other than those of the province of Belluno. With the Us Quercia di Rovereto, in fact, Marco Bonan was still able to hit the top ten in the three thousand hedges on Friday (9.19.38 for the 2000 class from Belluno who competed in the Promises category).
THE OTHER RESULTS OF THE BELLUNESE
Yesterday, Sunday, the 400 obstacle races were also held. Among the promises, Ilaria Rento (Ana Feltre) had to settle for thirty-third place in 1.07.88. Among the juniors, Marta Chiocchi (Firex), who ran in 1.05.66, managed to get close to the best, finishing in twentieth position. The three days of races in Grosseto also go on file with two good fifth places, those obtained on Saturday by Alessio Sommacal in the 110 hurdles and by Patrick Da Rold in the 3000 steeplechase. Tino Ferrighetto’s eighth placement in pole vaulting was also positive, again on Saturday.
