The U.S. government announces more than half a billion in funding to modernize California’s drinking water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure as part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda. The funding is intended to transform communities across California
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced today that over half a billion ($510,054,000) from President Biden’s Investing in America agenda will be allocated to modernize California’s drinking water and wastewater infrastructure.
This historic funding is part of more than $50 billion in investments to improve water infrastructure as part of President Biden’s bipartisan infrastructure bill – the largest investment in American history.
Nearly half of these funds will be provided in the form of grants or forgivable loans to ensure funds reach disadvantaged and underserved communities most in need of investments in water infrastructure. This vital funding will support critical water infrastructure that protects public health and precious waters across the state.
“President Biden’s Investing in America agenda will continue to transform communities for the better with this latest infusion of funding for critical water infrastructure projects,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan. “Totaling $50 billion, the largest investment in water infrastructure in our nation’s history.”
