To CES 2024, Samsung shared his vision on how artificial intelligence will allow devices to be used in a more comfortable and intuitive way.
Samsung worked with key partners to outline the technology behind this vision and how new products and services use the capabilities of artificial intelligence to make life easier.
AI-enabled Visual Display and home appliances
Jonathan Gabrio, Head of Connected Experience Center at Samsung Electronics America, illustrated how AI technology is transforming the way we use Visual Display products and home appliances. For example, the Samsung Neo QLED 8K QN900D boasts an integrated AI processor, NQ8 AI Gen 3, equipped with 8 times the AI neural network and twice the speed of the NPU compared to the previous model.
Powered by the NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, Samsung Neo QLED 8K automatically enhances low-resolution content to give users a quality viewing experience of up to 8K and sharpens fast-moving images with AI Motion Enhancer Pro. Samsung Neo QLED 8K is also equipped with Active Voice Amplifier Pro, which analyzes the voice and background noises thanks to AI to optimize the TV listening experience, so you can enjoy the various contents just as if you were in the front row of the stadium or at the cinema.
Samsung is also introducing the new The Premiere 8K, a projector featuring not only a 150-inch display, but also the world‘s first wireless 8K transmission for a projector. With The Premiere 8K, users will be able to enjoy a cinema-like video experience in the comfort of their own home.
Artificial intelligence for everyone
As for sound, Samsung also presented Music Frame, a speaker with a customizable cover capable of integrating perfectly into domestic environments. Thanks to the Q-Symphony function, the Music Frame synchronizes with Samsung TVs and soundbars, to be able to have, even at home, incredible bass and the surround sound of dual integrated woofers.
Samsung has also made major updates to Ballie, the AI robot rotating presented for the first time at CES 2020. Today Ballie has become the AI-powered companion that can interact with other smart devices to provide personalized services, such as taking care of routine tasks or projecting images and videos on the walls to display information such as the weather or other relevant content, wherever the user is located.
To take the cooking experience to the next level, Samsung introduced the Bespoke AI Family Hub 4-Door Refrigerator. The refrigerator it features a 32″ screen and features the new AI Vision Inside, which uses an internal chamber to recognize up to 33 different foods and suggests recipes that use these ingredients.
The AI-based technology also extends to other Samsung home appliances
The new washer dryer Bespoke AI is equipped with AI Hub, a 7″ LCD display that serves as a control center for laundry management, allowing a simple and intuitive washing and drying experience. Bespoke AI personalizes washing and drying by remembering user habits and using machine learning to suggest preferred cycles and settings. The new Bespoke Jet Bot Combo robot vacuum cleaner and mop uses AI technology for a more comfortable and effective cleaning experience.
Samsung Galaxy Book4
Samsung has perfected what a PC can do and collaborated with Microsoft to create new connected experiences. Now these experiences are further enhanced with new connectivity features that make the series Galaxy Book4 smoother, smarter and more flexible, solidifying Samsung and Microsoft’s commitment to providing the best PC experience possible.
With intelligent and intuitive AI capabilities, Microsoft Copilot connects the Galaxy Book4 series with Samsung Galaxy smartphones so they can work as easily as one device. Microsoft Copilot it can find, read or summarize text messages from the user’s Galaxy smartphone and even automatically create and send messages directly from the PC.
The Galaxy Book4 series can be connected with other Galaxy devices in addition to smartphones. Tab S9 Ultra can be used as an additional PC monitor, and users can enjoy crystal-clear sound quality with low latency when the PC is connected to Galaxy Buds2 Pro. With all these features and more, the Galaxy Book4 series is designed to deliver the best PC experience possible.
Better connect users and devices through spatial intelligence
Spatial AI is key to enabling this vision, helping devices understand the user’s living space and routines, thus enabling a more personalized home management experience. SmartThings uses LiDAR on connected devices like robot vacuum cleaners to create digital floor plans so users can easily check the status and location of all their devices.
Samsung Daily+
The TV, with the Samsung Daily+ service, will increasingly become a central hub for many of these smart home features, while also providing access to a variety of additional services. These include video calls via ConnecTime, remote veterinary consultation services and Workout Tracker, through which training data can be transferred to Samsung smartwatches.
Home and car come closer with Home-to-Car features
Samsung also announced new developments in the automotive sector, starting with a partnership with Hyundai Motor Group. Samsung and Hyundai have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), announced ahead of CES 2024. An agreement under which users will have access to Home-to-Car and Car-to-Home services, thanks to SmartThings connectivity.
Thanks to SmartThings, users will be able to use voice commands to remotely perform car functions, such as turning on the advance heating or opening and closing the windows. On the other hand, with SmartThings connectivity it will allow users to control home functions from their vehicle. Users will be able to automatically open and close garage doors based on the location of the car and adjust the temperature of the home environments. All actions that can be performed via voice commands.
Ready Vision brings an intuitive display directly on the windshield, thanks to augmented reality, into the driver’s field of vision just when he needs it. For example, drivers have access to a map that updates based on real-time routes, as well as recommendations on the fastest route or where to stop for a coffee.
Samsung Knox Matrix
The system provides end-to-end encryption on many Samsung Galaxy smartphones and smart TVs. The technology will allow devices to monitor each other to identify and isolate security threats. Knox Vault, which helps keep user data safe on some of Samsung’s most popular devices, has been expanded to cover more devices connected by SmartThings, such as Samsung Neo QLED 8K TVs.
Samsung, responsible use of materials
Samsung is increasingly incorporating recycled materials into its products, including recycled plastic from discarded fishing nets in Galaxy devices, recycled plastic in TVs and recycled aluminum in Bespoke refrigerators. Additionally, the company’s Certified ReNewed program, available in the United States and select European countries, offers affordable refurbished phones, while Galaxy Upcycling allows consumers to repurpose or repurpose their old phones in creative ways. The company also plans to increase recycling and upcycling.
