DDMeow Games Debuts Cyber Paradise at Taipei Game Show
The Australian independent game team DDMeow Games is unveiling its new Roguelike action-adventure game “Cyber Paradise” for the first time at the Taipei Game Show today. The game brings an innovative and intriguing experience to players as they piece together the memories of their lost dogs and unlock the mysteries of a dystopian world.
Developed by Uly from Taiwan and Sze from Hong Kong, “Cyber Paradise” is influenced by their family and pet “Grandma Dog”. The gameplay is inspired by “Slay the Spire” and “Hollow Knight” and presents a dystopian world view similar to “VA-11 Hall-A”.
Set in the near future, the game centers around the protagonist Hayley, who uses her hacking skills to access the digital void in an attempt to reconstruct the lost memory fragments of her deceased pet dog, Mini.
Players will navigate through a 2D platform scene and strategically plan skill decks to enhance their character’s abilities. As players progress and become stronger, the enemies in the game become fiercer, unlocking rare loot and skill enhancements.
One of the unique features of the game is the use of cards which are divided into green cards that strengthen body values, purple cards with debuff effects, and orange cards with passive skill attributes. Additionally, players have the ability to bounce back quickly from failure through the use of synthetic cards.
The game’s pixel vision captures the essence of a cyberpunk world with vividly depicted street atmospheres and neon effects. The team has also announced plans to introduce a new artist, BlUEYESnorton, to enhance the game’s visuals.
“Cyber Paradise” is expected to be released on Steam in 2024 with plans for Japanese localization and a DLC in 2025. The team also aims to launch the game on the Nintendo Switch, a process that is proving to be more complex than anticipated due to the platform’s listing policies.
The game currently offers a three-hour demo and includes a storyline that incorporates a linkage party with 5 independent games. As players collect memories, they unlock different dialogue options and storylines within the game.
The release of the game has garnered significant attention at the Taipei Game Show and visitors are eagerly watching for updates from DDMeow Games as they continue to develop “Cyber Paradise”.
