With 5 drivers for good sound! 1MORE Penta Driver earphones P50 in the test

MORE is a very exciting manufacturer that doesn’t shy away from more exotic and unusual products.

With the P50, 1MORE not only brought a pair of wired high-end earphones onto the market in the era of Bluetooth earphones, but also installed 5 drivers.

Sounds very exciting! This is at least on paper. But what does it look like in practice? Is it a good idea to fit 5 drivers into a small in-ear?

Let’s find out in the test!

At this point, many thanks to 1MORE who provided me with the Penta Driver headphones for a test.

At first glance, the P50 are very interesting earphones. This is mainly due to the cable, which has transparent insulation and shimmers in a copper color.

However, I don’t know if I’m the biggest fan of the cable. This is quite thick, which isn’t necessarily a disadvantage in itself, but the rubber coating is relatively strong. This makes it seem as if the cable gets tangled more or is harder to untangle and is just generally a bit more stubborn.

However, this is not a no-go as the earphones have an MMCX connection. If the cable also bothers you, it would be possible to replace it.

At first glance, the earphones themselves are fairly normal in-ears. From the size, it is not immediately obvious that we have a whopping 5 drivers per earphone.

Comfort

Fortunately, the 1MORE Penta Driver earphones are quite well shaped and not too big. These are worn using the “cable behind the ear” method.

I found it very comfortable to wear! The earphones sat well in my ears and lasted well.

There are no complaints here.

5 drivers

Even if you can’t see it at first glance, there are a whopping 5 sound-producing drivers on each side.

Here we have a dynamic driver as well as 4 planar drivers. Dynamic drivers are the classic drivers that you find in 99% of all earphones and headphones.

Planar drivers, on the other hand, rely on a completely different functional principle. This gives them significantly more precision and finesse in the sound. However, these drivers find it a little more difficult to build up “pressure”. That’s why they don’t have that much oomph, especially when it comes to bass.

But for this purpose, 1MORE has combined this with the dynamic driver, which usually has no problems with “wum”.

Klang

Let’s get to the most exciting point, how do the 1MORE Penta Driver P50 sound?

In terms of sound resolution and detail reproduction, the P50 are clearly above Bluetooth earphones in the comparable price range.

The highs are especially wonderful! These are very clear, clean and well resolved without being too sharp or pointed. So the earphones don’t have any major problems with hissing noises or anything like that. However, these offer very good brilliance. I think the highs are absolutely perfect! Almost a bit surprising, because earphones with multiple drivers often tend to have very sharp and exaggerated highs, at least in my experience.

The mids are similar to the highs. The earphones are quite well balanced, and the mids can also be described as good. The voice reproduction is good, if not excellent, and the general sonority is strong.

The bass of the P50 is fantastic in terms of quality! This has a terrific depth and sounds incredibly round and full. If a song has a nice deep bass hit, the 1MORE Penta Drivers can reproduce it beautifully.

The amount of bass is good, but not extreme either. The P50 are not Bluetooth earphones, where the DSP turns up the bass all the way. The earphones behave relatively neutrally, but I would say that the bass is perhaps a touch increased.

This makes the P50 sound a bit more lively and powerful, which suits them well!

Certainly, but the biggest highlight is the detail representation and resolution. These can be described as outstanding! It is possible to hear fine details in music and isolate instruments without any problems.

However, the sound range is not necessarily the strength of the earphones. Here these are just average.

I have to admit that I’ve only been used to Bluetooth earphones lately. Therefore, I was particularly “shocked” or surprised by the resolution and detail.

The bottom line is that I think the 1MORE Penta Drivers sound great! So they don’t sound too neutral that they’re boring, but there’s a bit of life and dynamism clearly present in the sound. The earphones also offer a certain character that I really like!

Conclusion

The 1MORE Penta Driver earphones P50* are of course absolutely exotic! I think most users now prefer Bluetooth earphones.

But there are also good reasons for wired models, which the 1MORE P50 also shows! The wearing comfort is very good (apart from the cable) and, above all, the sound is completely different than Bluetooth earphones.

The earphones sound very finely resolved with fantastic detail representation. The sound is generally very well balanced, but the earphones don’t sound boring or too analytical either.

Aside from the perhaps somewhat stubborn cable, the 1MORE Penta Driver Earphones P50 are excellent earphones! So if you are looking for “something better” than the usual Bluetooth models, then these are a great choice.
