Jakarta – The inauguration of the 2024 General Election Organizing Group (KPPS) is scheduled to take place simultaneously throughout Indonesia on Thursday (25/1). After being appointed, they have their respective duties and authorities.
Meanwhile, the General Election Commission (KPU) is inaugurating the 2024 Election KPPS to fill KPPS officers spread across 820,161 polling stations. Each TPS is guarded by seven KPPS members.
This means that the number of participants in the 2024 Election KPPS inauguration is 5,741,127 people. This number does not include 12,765 KPPS overseas.
Referring to PKPU Number 8 of 2022 Article 1 paragraph (9), KPPS are officers formed by the Voting Committee (PPS) to carry out voting at the Polling Place (TPS)
The main role of KPPS is to maintain integrity and transparency during election activities, including the vote count on February 14 2024.

Tasks of the 2024 Election KPPS
Based on the KPPS Guidebook from the General Election Commission (KPU), the duties of the 2024 Election KPPS members are divided into several roles.
1. Duties of KPPS member 1 (Chairman of KPPS)
- Tasked with calling voters according to the arrival number written on Model C6 and separating Model C6 based on gender.
- Responsible for signing ballot papers.
- Tasked with giving 4 types of ballots to voters.
- Tasked with providing replacement ballot papers to voters if a ballot paper is damaged or cast incorrectly.
- Tasked with helping to insert ballot papers into voting aids for the blind and hand them over to voters.
2. Duties of KPPS members 2
The task of KPPS 2 members is to prepare the ballot papers which will be opened and declared whether the ballot papers are valid or not by the KPPS chairman.
3. Duties of KPPS members 3
The task of KPPS 3 members is to record the number of voters, number of ballot papers, and certificate of vote count results using the Model C1-KWK form.
4. Duties of KPPS members 4
The task of KPPS 4 members is to record the results of research on each ballot paper announced by the KPPS chairman using the vote counting results recording form for each pair of candidates.
5. Duties of KPPS members 5
- Direct the voter into an empty voting booth to cast his vote.
- Assist voters with disabilities or voters who need assistance to cast a vote if requested by the voter.
6. Duties of KPPS members 6
- Help voters to put ballot papers into ballot boxes according to their type.
- Ensure all ballots are put into the ballot box
- Direct voters to the KPPS 7 table which is near the TPS exit.
7. Duties of KPPS members 7
- Directing voters to dip their fingers in ink
- Make sure the selector doesn’t wipe off any ink that sticks to your finger
- Asking voters to leave the polling station.

KPPS Code of Ethics for the 2024 Election
KPPS is subject to and complies with the code of ethics for election organizers as stated in the Joint Regulation of KPU, BAWASLU and DKPP No. 13 of 2012, No. 11/2012, and No. 01/2012 which basically contains:
- Independent and fair basis
- The basis of legal certainty
- Principles of honesty, openness and accountability
- General interest basis
- Principle of proportionality
- Principles of professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness
- Basic order
Authorities of the 2024 Election KPPS
Referring to Article 30, paragraph 3, PKPU No. 8 of 2022, KPPS has various authorities, including:
- Tasked with announcing the results of the vote count at the TPS
- Tasked with carrying out other authorities granted by the KPU, Provincial KPU, Regency/City KPU, PPK, and PPS in accordance with statutory provisions.
- Tasked with carrying out other authorities in accordance with statutory provisions.
