With the discovery of four other bodies, the number of confirmed victims of the collapse of a tall building in Miami has risen to 22. Among the latest victims there is also a seven-year-old girl, the daughter of a city firefighter who lived in the condominium with her mother and grandparents, confirmed the mayor, Daniella Levine Cava.

Meanwhile, the difficult work of the rescuers continues, while the missing persons from the collapse of June 24 are still 128. The mayor has signed the order to demolish the building, but the times and methods are not yet clear. Two options are being examined: a controlled explosion that would stop the efforts of rescuers for a few hours or a longer intervention with crane engagement. Rescue operations are currently hampered by bad weather and the risk of collapsing in the rubble.

Crestview Towers collapse risk, orderly evacuation
North Miami Beach authorities have ordered the evacuation and closure of a condominium in the city on the basis of a report from the beginning of the year, but presented only yesterday, which shows that the building is unsafe. According to what is reported by the Bbc, it is the Crestview Towers, located about 11 km north of the Surfside building which collapsed last week. The report, dated January 11, 2021, indicates that the building – which has 156 apartments and was built almost 50 years ago – is not safe from a structural point of view, or its electrical system.
