Carlos Alcaraz (2nd in the world) suffered a resounding defeat in the quarterfinals of the Miami Open 2024 against Grigor Dimitrov (12°). The Bulgarian played top-level tennis and managed to win by 6-2 y 6-4, in just over an hour and a half of play. In this way, faces will be seen against Alexander Zverev (5°) in semi-finals.

With this fall, Carlitos was unable to defend the points achieved in the 2023 edition, where he was a semifinalist (Jannik Sinner defeated him in three sets). After this, not only the elimination is the bad news for the Spanish. The reason? He can lose the number two in the world and fall in the world ranking.
For the latter to happen, Sinner must become champion on American soil. For now, the Italian will face off against Daniil Medvedev (4°)with whom they will debate a place in the final and will reissue the definition disputed last year.
