Sporting CP vs Atalanta opens the round of 16 of the 2023/2024 Europa League. Final score 1-1.
The first leg of the last 16 of the Europa League began on Thursday (7/3) early morning WIB. The Sporting CP vs Atalanta match opened the series.
Playing at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, Lisbon, Portugal, Sporting took the lead first. Paulinho put the hosts ahead in the 17th minute, after using Trincao’s assist to score a goal.

Atalanta almost responded. In the 24th minute, Gianluca Scamacca fired a shot, but the ball still hit the Sporting goalpost.
Atalanta continued to attack Sporting in search of an equalizer. Until finally, Scamacca was able to break through the opponent’s goal in the 39th minute, after continuing Aleksey Miranchuk’s pass. The 1-1 score lasted until the break.
In the second half, buying and selling attacks occurred. Atalanta almost took the lead in the 60th minute, if Ademola Lookman’s shot had not been blocked by the goalpost.
Two minutes later, Sporting’s turn hit Atalanta’s post. Sebastian Coates’ header also hit the crossbar.
Both teams still presented several opportunities in the remaining time of the second half. However, the 1-1 score remained until the match was finished.
The next match will be held at Gewiss Stadium, Bergamo, Italy. The second leg will be held on March 14.
