The Locarno Film Festival restarts: after last year’s suspension due to the pandemic, the prestigious Swiss festival is back with a rich program, divided into various sections.
Scheduled from 4 to 14 August, the 74th edition of one of the most important international events in the world is relaunched with a new artistic director, Giona A. Nazzaro, and a parterre of particularly anticipated titles.

Piazza Grande
First of all, the magic of the Piazza Grande returns, an immense open space that represents the most beautiful and engaging experience of the Locarno Festival. Space capable of welcoming up to 8,000 spectators and spectators every evening, the Piazza Grande is the heart and showcase of the event.
Among the films on the program, the opening feature film “Beckett” by Fernando Cito Filomarino, a high-voltage product starring John David Washington, promises great fun, however, “Free Guy” by Shawn Levy with Ryan Reynolds, as he prepares to shock the Locarno public Gaspar Noé with his new work, «Vortex», starring Dario Argento.
Furthermore, an important space dedicated to animation cinema with “Belle” by the Japanese Mamoru Hosoda and “Yaya and Lennie – The Walking Liberty” by the Italian Alessandro Rak. As always for the Piazza Grande section, there are also great classics such as ” Heat – The Challenge »by Michael Mann,« Animal House »by John Landis and« Terminator »by James Cameron.
