Economy in picturesItaly remains number one

Italy (here a current photo from the Apuan Alps with a view of the Ligurian Sea) is and will remain the A place of longing and holiday for the Germans. Nowhere outside of their own national borders did more Germans go on vacation last year than in the southern European country. 4.4 percent of Germans were there in 2022. The Balearic Islands (3.7 percent), Turkey (3.3 percent) and the Canary Islands (3.2 percent) follow in third place. Only their own country was more popular than Italy – 7.4 percent of Germans vacationed on the North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts. By the way: The majority, but by no means all Germans, go on vacation at all: The number of those who went on vacation in 2022 (including all trips of 5 days or more) was 47.8 million.
