Aqualung, the French multinational that 100% controls Technisub, does not give up on its desire to dismantle the historic Genoese diving company, transferring its work to the United Kingdom by 2025. However, the ownership assures that no procedure will be opened by the company, in of the 48 employees, without discussion with the union table and that the brand will be able to remain Genoese.

This is what was announced by Mario Mascia, Councilor for Labor and Economic Development of the Municipality of Genoa, who received the representatives of Fiom-Cgil, Fim-Cisl and Uilm, the RSU of Technisub workers, a representative of Confindustria as well as the legal representative of Technisub and Aqualung’s attorney.

«I reiterated to the lawyer Saverio Schiavone, representative of the ownership – explains Mascia – that we want to protect the 48 workers with their families, their professionalism and the Technisub brand, which represents not only made in Italy, but above all made in Genoa . We care about this plant and we will work to avoid losing an important piece of the city’s industry.”

No step back

With the trade unions and the employers, he adds, “we have agreed that there will be no steps forward in the management of this delicate dispute and all the steps will be shared in advance. The owners reiterated that they will not go back on the industrial decision to rationalize the Aqualung group, with the relocation to England of part of the production that originates in the Genoese plant”.

However, the councilor underlines, «we have received reassurance that no procedure will be opened by the company without discussion with the union table; and that Aqualung is ready to facilitate the entry of new industrial entities into the area, leaving the machinery and equipment in the factory and maintaining the Technisub brand in Genoa”.
