Electric scooters, the “close” arrives. Here are the new rules
by Graziella Marino
Voi’s engineers have designed a “low hum” to alert other road users that a scooter is approaching. The noise replicates the types of artificial noise introduced in recent years on electric cars, to address the safety problem of the absolute silence of electric motors, and can be adapted and improved by you, based on feedback from users and the community of blind.

In the next three months from June to August, Voi will add sound to 60 scooters in its three largest cities; Birmingham, Liverpool and Bristol. You will also partner with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). At the end of the three months, you will work with the RNIB to evaluate the feedback and publish its results.
