Congress Approves Creation of Faculty of Human Medicine at UNAMBA to Address Health Needs in Apurímac

The Plenary Session of Congress has approved the creation of the faculty of human medicine at the Micaela Bastidas National University of Apurímac (UNAMBA) with overwhelming support. The bill, which received 107 votes in favor, 0 against and 7 abstentions, aims to address the shortage of medical professionals in the department of Apurímac and the country as a whole.

President of the Education, Youth and Sports Commission, José Balcázar, emphasized that the new faculty will not only meet the demand for medical professionals but also improve the quality of medical care in the region. He believes that training highly skilled professionals will contribute to the economic and social development of Apurímac.

UNAMBA will be responsible for the implementation and start-up of the faculty of human medicine under the supervision of the National Superintendency of Higher Education (SUNEDU). Congressman Paul Gutiérrez Ticona, the author of the legislative initiative, highlighted the urgent need for more doctors and health professionals in Apurímac to ensure adequate medical services for the population.

In a poignant moment, the Plenary Session of Congress observed a minute of silence in honor of Third Technician of the Peruvian Navy, Edgar Tiburcio Espinoza, who lost his life during a confrontation with terrorist remnants in the Valley of the Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM). This gesture of respect was initiated by Congressman José Cueto Aservi.

The creation of the faculty of human medicine at UNAMBA has been seen as a vital step in reducing health gaps and enhancing healthcare services in the region.
