About 10% of adults and 4% of adolescents in Italy are affected by obesity. Numbers destined to grow worldwide where it is estimated that in 2035 approximately one in four adults and one in five children will be affected by this pathology. To raise awareness of the issue, Feel Good was born, the information campaign on obesity aimed at adolescents and adults through training and prevention activities. “Obesity is a pathology with strong social implications, as well as having an impact on individual and collective health costs – declares Anna Lisa Mandorino, General Secretary of Cittadinanzattiva -. With Feel Good we want to promote information and education on correct styles of life, but also to encourage an attitude that combats prejudices and stereotypes. Among the initiatives promoted by Cittadinanzattiva in collaboration with Federfarma, the involvement of schools and pharmacies in 5 cities in Piedmont, Lazio and Sicily, dedicated information corners and an online training course which involved 150 students on three specific topics: taking care of and promoting one’s physical and mental well-being; promote body positivity; recognize and address body shaming phenomena. In February a similar path will be reserved for teachers and families to strengthen the role of the educational community in preventing and supporting the treatment of obesity. in proximity to the World Day against Obesity on March 4th, the pharmacies participating in the initiative will then be protagonists of awareness-raising and health education activities aimed at citizens who will be able to fill out a questionnaire to detect the degree of knowledge and awareness of the obesity factors risk of obesity.
