MCS Health Plan Strengthens Alliances with Puerto Rican Medical Community

The MCS health plan continues to strengthen alliances with the medical community of Puerto Rico through various initiatives, including the Puerto Rico Medical Hall of Fame and medical residency programs such as Impúlsate con MCS. These initiatives aim to provide mentoring opportunities for medical students and resident doctors, as well as to honor the legacy and excellence in Puerto Rican medicine.

In a statement, Inés Hernández Roses, chief medical officer of MCS, expressed the organization’s commitment to partnering with the Medical Hall of Fame and supporting academic excellence programs in medicine. “At MCS, we recognize the importance of honoring the legacy and excellence in Puerto Rican medicine,” said Hernández Roses. “This collaboration is part of our commitment to be the best business partner for our suppliers and foster close collaboration between our team and other entities to contribute to the growth of our extensive local network of healthcare providers.”

One of the major programs under the MCS health plan, Impúlsate con MCS, has seen accelerated growth as more medical residency programs show interest in joining. The program has already impacted hundreds of new doctors and residents at various hospitals across Puerto Rico, with upcoming sessions planned to further guide future and new doctors in establishing their professional practices on the Island.

The next session of Impúlsate con MCS will focus on key aspects of the administrative and operational processes necessary to contract with health plans and provide medical services on the island. This session is scheduled to take place at the La Concepción de San Germán Hospital on April 25.

Furthermore, the Puerto Rican Medicine Hall of Fame, which recognizes doctors and entities that have contributed to the social development of Puerto Rico through medicine, will hold its Third Exaltation Ceremony on May 17, 2024. This event aims to highlight the work of medical professionals and inspire future generations to pursue a career in medicine.

Jaime Rivera Dueño, president of the Board of Directors of the Puerto Rican Medicine Hall of Fame, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with MCS, stating that it will help strengthen medical services on the island and encourage young professionals to join the healthcare industry. The collaboration between MCS and the medical community of Puerto Rico is expected to have a positive impact on the local healthcare system and the well-being of the people.
