Sexual diseases, boom in the Belluno area of syphilis and gonorrhea. The most affected? Males in their thirties

The state of health of the people of Belluno was under the spotlight as the Epidemiological bulletin of the Dolomites was presented by various health experts yesterday. The report highlighted various aspects of health in the region, from mortality rates to infectious diseases transmitted through sexual intercourse.

One of the key findings from the report was the increasing awareness among the male population in Belluno to come forward for screening tests for treatable bacterial diseases transmitted through sexual intercourse. The report showed a significant increase in the number of people coming forward for testing, indicating a growing awareness of the risks associated with these diseases.

In addition to infectious diseases, the report also highlighted the challenges faced in diagnosing respiratory diseases in the region. Respiratory illnesses such as invasive pneumococcal disease, legionellosis, and pulmonary tuberculosis were mentioned as major health concerns in Belluno.

On a more positive note, the report also noted a decrease in the number of deaths from cancer in the region, which was attributed to fewer people smoking and an increase in physical activity. However, certain types of cancer, such as prostate and breast cancer, continued to remain prevalent in the region.

Regarding Covid-19, Belluno has managed to keep the number of cases low compared to other regions, with no reported cases currently. The Covid crisis unit of Ulss 1 has closely monitored the situation, with a total of 93 thousand positive cases and 950 deaths recorded since the beginning of the epidemic.

Overall, the report painted a comprehensive picture of the state of health in Belluno, highlighting both the challenges and successes in the region. The commissioner of Ulss 1 Dolomiti, Giuseppe Dal Ben, commended the initiative and emphasized the importance of continuing to monitor and assess the health of the Belluno community.
