On Monday afternoon, the accident of a Black Hawk helicopter of the National Army in the rural area of Unguía, Chocó, very close to the border with Panama, was reported.
The aircraft, which was carrying out patrol work in the municipality, crashed during landing maneuvers, resulting in the loss of four lives and three people injured.
There were seven people on board the helicopter, including four crew members and three passengers.
According to authorities, among the deceased are Major García Karol Felipe, Captain Jhon Barbosa, Captain Dario Barbosa and Deputy First Sergeant Javier Reino. The wounded were identified as First Corporal Alejandro Gutiérrez, Sergeant Jonathan del Río and Private Prada Suarez Galindo.

He General Luis Mauricio Ospina Gutiérrez, commander of the Army, expressed his regret for the tragedy and announced that all necessary efforts are being carried out to assist the affected personnel. Likewise, he promised to provide support to the families of the soldiers involved in the accident.
The exact circumstances of the crash are still under investigation, and authorities are expected to provide additional details about the causes of the incident in the coming days. The helicopter, a fundamental part of the National Army’s operations, crashed during the landing process.
