Court: Alec Baldwin’s trial scheduled for July

This was announced by the responsible court in the US state of New Mexico on Monday (local time). The trial is scheduled to begin July 9 with jury selection. Initially, a negotiation period was set until July 19th.

After the death of a camerawoman in a shooting incident on the set of the western “Rust” in October 2021, Baldwin was indicted by a grand jury in mid-January. He pleaded not guilty a short time later.

Since last week, weapons master Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was jointly responsible for weapons and security on the set during the “Rust” filming, has been on trial in New Mexico. She is also charged with negligent homicide in the ongoing criminal trial.

Baldwin, who starred and produced the film, was using a gun while rehearsing a scene when a shot was fired. Camerawoman Halyna Hutchins was fatally shot. It is unclear how the live ammunition ended up on set. Baldwin has always denied responsibility for the fatal accident. If convicted, the Hollywood star could face up to 18 months in prison.
