Public Security and Traffic Control Departments Nationwide Work to Ensure Safe Holiday Travel
During the Spring Festival holiday, public security and traffic control departments across China mobilized all police officers to protect people’s safe travel and create a good road traffic environment for celebrating a stable and peaceful New Year. As of February 17, the national road traffic safety situation was generally stable and orderly, with no major road traffic accidents reported.
To ensure road traffic safety during the holiday, traffic police auxiliary policemen stayed at their posts, focusing on key road sections with concentrated traffic flow and outstanding hidden dangers. They adhered to a combination of fixed-point duty and mobile inspections, strictly investigating serious traffic violations such as drunk driving and “three excesses and one fatigue”. The effort included dispatching an average of 181,000 police officers and 62,000 police vehicles nationwide every day, activating more than 4,000 traffic police law enforcement stations, and setting up over 20,000 temporary duty points.
However, the holiday period has seen a high level of highway traffic flow, with a 20% increase compared to the same period last year. As a result, public security and traffic control departments formulated plans to clear congestion and ensure smooth flow, as well as studying and judging road sections prone to congestion in advance.
As the return traffic flow of self-driving vehicles from various places is expected to remain high until the Lantern Festival, the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security reminds drivers to pay close attention to weather changes and road traffic conditions, plan and arrange their itineraries reasonably, and abide by the law when driving.
Drivers are also warned to pay attention to the cold wave weather affecting most areas across the country, which will adversely affect the return traffic during the Spring Festival. They are advised to drive carefully and considerately, following safety protocols and laws to ensure a safe and enjoyable journey.
In an effort to prevent accidents and ensure smooth travel, drivers are reminded to remain vigilant and considerate on the roads and to follow the guidelines provided by the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security.
