Ice and Snow Tourism Season Stimulates New Consumption Vitality in China

China Culture News reporter, Zhang Xin, reported that the Resource Development Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in China has launched the “Tourism to Welcome the Spring Festival and Leisure New Year” – the 2024 New Year tourism and leisure publicity and promotion event. The initiative aims to enrich the cultural life of the people, create a festive atmosphere, and stimulate domestic demand to expand consumption.

To achieve these goals, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has been increasing its efforts to develop and enrich the supply of ice and snow tourism products across the country. This includes support for brand building of national-level ski tourism resorts and ice and snow-themed tourist resorts. Additionally, the ministry is launching various policies and measures aimed at the high-quality development of ice and snow tourism.

As a result of these efforts, ice and snow tourism destinations such as Heilongjiang Province have seen a significant increase in tourism revenue and visits. The number of tourists in Heilongjiang Province has increased by 46% year-on-year, and tourism revenue has increased by 67.63% year-on-year, making it the most popular ice and snow tourism destination in the country.

The development of ice and snow tourism is not limited to traditional winter sports and activities. Various provinces in China are actively launching themed winter tourism events and activities, combining sports, health care, hot springs, and folk customs to provide a colorful ice and snow tourism experience to welcome the New Year.

Moreover, online travel platforms are also playing a significant role in benefiting Spring Festival travelers. Platforms such as Fliggy, Tongcheng Travel, and Ctrip have launched special New Year planning events, providing preferential booking activities and discounts for Spring Festival travel routes, hotels, and scenic spots.

The combined efforts of government initiatives, local cultural tourism events, and online travel platforms are expected to have a significant impact on stimulating new consumption vitality in China’s ice and snow tourism sector.

With the continued support and development of ice and snow tourism across the country, the sector is expected to contribute positively to the overall economic growth and cultural vibrancy of China.
