The selection of the winners will be made exclusively by criteria of academic excellence.

A testimony

«When I lived in Chocó, the last thing I thought about was studying in the United States. However, I had the opportunity to visit Georgetown University, in Washington, when I was doing my undergraduate degree and I knew that I wanted to do my master’s degree there. I applied for several scholarships and was selected for two, including Colfuturo. That was the way to make it possible to study in that country. I want to highlight that in Chocó people are very academic, what we have not had are opportunities to access quality education, but people study as they can and strive to go to university,” says Andrea Lloreda Flórez, who did his master’s degree in law at Georgetown University, thanks to the Credit Scholarship Program.

Like Andrea, nearly 15,000 Colombian professionals have managed, through Colfuturo, to pursue master’s degrees and doctorates in the best universities in America (4,800 beneficiaries), Europe (10,000 beneficiaries), Asia (70 beneficiaries), Africa (6 beneficiaries) and Oceania (900 beneficiaries), in 12 areas of study ranging from agricultural arts and sciences, to basic sciences, engineering and health sciences.

«Without a doubt, the possibility of studying abroad is worth it, because you have access to the best education, you practice a second language, you can reflect on Colombia from a distance and how to contribute to making it a better country. You also have an enriching experience. To achieve this, Colfuturo is an excellent alternative, because this way the professional can complement the resources he needs to study abroad. Likewise, by competing in our call you can identify and recognize the potential and differential that you will show abroad. And the most important thing is that you will always receive your money on time so that you can concentrate and dedicate yourself exclusively to studying, if you wish,” explained Jerónimo Castro, executive director of Colfuturo.

How does it work

Through donations from the private sector and the support it receives from the National Government through Minciencias, Colfuturo provides support that can reach up to USD 50,000 for registration, tickets, insurance, installation and maintenance expenses.

Each beneficiary of the program can accumulate the percentage of the scholarship they will receive, which can reach up to 80% of the requested amount according to compliance with the following requirements:

20% if you graduate from MBA, Master’s in Administration and Law studies. 40% if you graduate from the rest of the study areas, or from the doctorate funded by Colfuturo. 20% if you work full-time as a public official, as a teacher or researcher in an educational entity (10% in the first year, 5% in the second year and 5% in the third year). 20% if you work outside of Bogotá and its metropolitan area (10% in the first year, 5% in the second year and 5% in the third year).
