Last weekend, the national police recovered two of ten escapees from the national police cell in Tshimbulu (Kasaï-Central).

The coordinator of the Congolese Association for Human Rights (ACDHO), Arthur Padingani, delivered this information on Wednesday, January 31, to Radio Okapi.

According to him, these detainees fled the poor prison conditions in this place of detention.

« Ten detainees, including 6 arrested for sexual violence, escaped and in the morning, 2 were caught, while the 8 left for an unknown destination. The dungeon has a reception area of 1 and a half meters while the reception area of this dungeon cannot accommodate more than 5 people. “, he was indignant.

Arthur Padingangi indicated that these detainees live in conditions which do not respect their dignities as humans.

« On the day of this escape, there were 10 of these detainees who carried out all their health needs on site and their dignity was not respected. This really concerned us and also see the number of people in the dungeon and it gave them the opportunity to escape », underlined the ACDHO coordinator.
