Provincial Governor Mao Weiming Holds Emergency Power Supply Meeting to Respond to Severe Weather

In response to the severe low-temperature rain, snow, and freezing disasters, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor Mao Weiming held a province-wide power supply and dispatch meeting at the State Grid Hunan Electric Power Company on February 7. The meeting aimed to effectively respond to and prevent the impact of the severe weather on the power supply in the province.

During the meeting, Mao Weiming emphasized the importance of thoroughly implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on the prevention and response to low-temperature rain, snow, and freezing disasters. He stressed the need for effective measures and a strong sense of responsibility to resolutely win the battle against ice and protect the network and power, ensuring that the people of the province can have a warm and bright Spring Festival.

The meeting was also attended by Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Executive Vice Governor Zhang Yingchun, Deputy General Manager of State Grid Co., Ltd. Chen Guoping, and Secretary-General of the Provincial Government Qu Hai.

In light of the severe weather conditions, Mao Weiming made a video connection to the emergency repair site of Liuyun I and II lines in Liuyang City and the tower damage repair site of the 500 kV Nanhe I line in Xiangtan City. He listened to the report on the power supply guarantee situation in the province and emphasized the need for close attention and active response to the complex situation where ice conditions may continue to develop.

Mao Weiming highlighted the severity of the current rain, snow, and freezing disaster, stating that it poses severe challenges to the safe operation of the power grid. In response, various departments and units across the province have coordinated operations, dispatching emergency repair personnel, vehicles, and carrying out ice melt measures. Despite the challenges, the overall operation of the province’s power grid is controllable and the overall power supply is stable. Nevertheless, it is imperative to remain vigilant and actively respond to the potential continuation of ice conditions.

Mao Weiming called for an active response to the severe situation of superimposed contradictions between total electricity volume and safety, as well as the coexistence of supply and demand pressures. He emphasized the need to prioritize the interests of the people and ensure their safety and security. Mao Weiming urged for efforts to be made to strengthen risk prevention and control in all aspects of power generation, transmission, transformation, and supply, in order to ensure the power supply of hospitals, transportation hubs, water and gas supply, and hazardous chemical enterprises.

In conclusion, Mao Weiming stressed the importance of tightening the responsibilities of all parties and maintaining a strong sense of responsibility among all departments and units in various places. This includes coordinating and overall dispatching, equipment operation and maintenance, power and coal transportation, line de-icing, and public opinion guidance.

The meeting aimed to ensure a safe and stable power supply for the people of the province and to create a harmonious and stable social environment. The efforts and measures put in place by the provincial government and various departments and units across the province are crucial in safeguarding the power supply and ensuring the well-being of the people during this challenging period.
