The employee was crushed by a plastic bale.

SALASSA. The entrepreneur Serena Cerutti, owner of the “Rg polietilene” of Salassa, was sentenced. In the company, in an accident at work, an employee died crushed by a plastic bale. The sentence was handed down on Wednesday morning by the single judge of the Ivrea court Antonella Pelliccia who sentenced Elide Serena Cerutti to one year with suspended sentence. The facts date back to April 20, 2018, when Salah Semhani, 50, of Moroccan origins residing in Favria, lost his life in the company specializing in plastic production. Almost four years after the incident, the first degree criminal proceedings were concluded. The defendant of the crime of manslaughter was the owner Elide Serena Cerutti, 67 years old from Salassa, defended by the lawyers Franco Papotti and Luca Fiore of the Ivrea bar. The accident happened in the early hours of the morning and precisely between seven and eight. Semhani was mobilizing. According to the reconstructions, it was one of these large skeins of plastic that caused the death. The man was found under one of these packages weighing 1040 kilos. To find him, at 8.38, one of his colleagues, Davide Cerutti, son of the defendant and a working partner as he himself reported in the courtroom in previous hearings. He had gone to the scene, from inside the company, not seeing the victim return. Cerutti had used a forklift to lift the gigantic bale, finding the now helpless body of the worker. Rescuers arrived on the spot in the shortest time possible. Unfortunately, the 118 doctors could not do anything for Semhani who was now deceased following the crushing. On the spot carabinieri, firefighters and the Spresal service of the ASL / To4 who were heard as witnesses during the proceedings. The worker had been working for over ten years and had great experience, Salah Semhani was very integrated in the local community: he had lived in Favria for 18 years with his wife and two children aged 17 and 12, and was employed at Rg polyethylene for 10. The judge reserved 30 days before making public the reasons for the sentence. In the trial, the relatives of the victim, already compensated, did not appear as a civil party. –
