Shandong Welcomes Over 13 Million Tourists During Spring Festival Holiday, Host-Guest Sharing Scenario Popular

The Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism released data showing that the province welcomed more than 13 million visitors during the first half of the Spring Festival holiday. According to the report, the total number of tourists received at 200 monitored tourist attractions was 13.075 million, with ticket revenue amounting to 198.603 million yuan and operating income totaling 592.636 million yuan. These figures represent significant increases compared to the same period last year, with a 45.5% increase in tourists, a 223.6% increase in ticket revenue, and a 103.9% increase in operating income.

The popularity of the new “host-guest sharing” scenario was noted during this time. Various regions in Shandong launched high-quality holiday tourism products, providing visitors with cultural experiences, leisure, and entertainment activities. Shandong’s cities and tourist spots offered a wide range of themed itinerary activities, high-quality tourism and performing arts projects, as well as cultural and creative market events.

Tai’an City, for example, focused on scenic spots as the entry points for the “Taishan+” chain, leveraging the cultural tourism market. Tai’an also experienced a significant increase in tourists, with Taishan alone receiving 8.6197 million visitors in 2023, marking a 301.36% increase from the previous year.

In addition to traditional tourist attractions, various regions in Shandong planned and launched a series of themed activities designed to enrich and expand the cultural connotation and expression of the Spring Festival. Ancient cities such as Jinan Mingshui, Qingdao Jimo, Zibo Zhoucun, and Zaozhuang Taierzhuang showcased cultural tourism markets, fish lantern festivals, and other traditional folk activities, allowing citizens and tourists to experience the strong festive atmosphere of the New Year.

The success of the Spring Festival holiday in Shandong reflects the province’s commitment to promoting high-quality tourism offerings and creating a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors. With the continued interest in the “host-guest sharing” scenario and the diverse range of cultural and tourism products, Shandong’s tourism industry is poised for further growth and development.
