On Meizhou Island, Putian City, Fujian Province, the “Hometown of Mazu”, there is a world crab restaurant called “Magical Armor Warrior”. Liu Zhenghong traveled across the ocean from Penghu to Meizhou Island, Fujian, and settled here.

The reporter saw in the pavilion, the human-like face crab with the appearance of a human face, the tower-shaped giant crab with six legs, and the highly poisonous embroidered ridge like a crab… The crab hall covers an area of more than 300 square meters. Species, thousands of crabs, lobsters and other crustacean specimens inhabit it.

Liu Zhenghong told reporters that more than 90% of the crabs in the exhibit are rare species, and dozens of species are endangered. “The main collection of our museum is crustaceans from all over the world, and some of them are more unique.” For example, there is a crab with six legs. He introduced that this is a species of tower-shaped stone crab, which is basically very rare in fishing at present, and it should be said that it is an endangered species of crab.

There are many rare crab species like tower-shaped giant crabs in his crab restaurant. The three generations of Liu Zhenghong’s family have spent decades fishing, collecting and making more than 1,000 crustacean specimens.

According to Liu Zhenghong, his grandfather gradually developed into the generation of his father and uncle based on his interests. Starting from the second generation, they began to learn how to make specimens and make permanent exhibits. In his “three generations”, he began to travel all over the world to buy all kinds of precious and interesting crabs from local fishermen.

Following the opening of a world crab museum in Xiamen, Fujian in 2019, Liu Zhenghong opened a second crab museum on Meizhou Island in the first month of this year.

Liu Zhenghong returned to Penghu after graduating from National Chengchi University in 2016 and has accumulated a lot of experience in island cultural and creative tourism. The concept of marine ecological civilization protection is Liu Zhenghong’s original intention to establish the World Crab Museum. With the support of his family, he brought out the collection of three generations to “meet” with everyone.

“I came to Meizhou Island because of Mazu.” Liu Zhenghong said that in Taiwan, Mazu is a very important cultural belief, so he chose to come here. At the same time, in Liu Zhenghong’s view, Meizhou Island has relatively favorable conditions both in the natural environment and in various entrepreneurial conditions. In recent years, Meizhou Island has actively explored new roads for cross-strait integration and development. In order to attract Taiwanese and Taiwanese enterprises to come to visit and start businesses, it has introduced a series of policies and measures that benefit Taiwanese.

Liu Zhenghong hopes that through this form of viewing + popular science and integrating the concept of tourism and vacation on Meizhou Island, more people can understand the diversity of marine life and raise awareness of marine ecological and environmental protection.

He revealed that in the future, he will continue to deepen science education and strengthen cross-strait marine academic exchanges and cooperation, “from elementary school, middle school to university, and even research institutions, to cooperate.” He plans to use Crab House as a marine science experience for teenagers in mainland China. The practice base is promoted to the outside world, “I hope to bring more Taiwan elements to Meizhou Island.” (End)
