China Space Day Launch Ceremony Celebrates Aerospace Achievements
The launch ceremony of the 2024 “China Space Day” home event was held in Wuhan City, Hubei Province on April 24th. The event, with the theme “Jimu Chutian, supporting the stars together,” was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Space Administration, and the People’s Government of Hubei Province, and hosted by the Wuhan Municipal People’s Government and Wuhan University.
During the ceremony, the National Space Administration announced major aerospace international cooperation news regarding the International Lunar Research Station and the selection results of the international payload for the Chang’e-7 mission. Agreements were made with several countries and international organizations, including Egypt, Italy, Russia, and Thailand, to participate in the Chang’e-7 mission.
Additionally, Li Deren, a professor at Wuhan University and an academician of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was named a “China Aerospace Charity Ambassador.” Other notable figures in the aerospace industry were also recognized at the event, including Yang Liwei, China’s first astronaut, who won the “Qian Xuesen Highest Achievement Award.”
The ceremony was filled with exciting activities, including the presentation of the “China Space Day” flag to Wuhan University and the display of children’s paintings related to space. The event also featured the awarding of the Youth Science Popularization Satellite Project to two local middle schools.
Throughout the “China Space Day” activities, various forums, conferences, and exhibitions will be held in Wuhan and across the country. These events aim to promote space science and technology, as well as encourage youth participation in aerospace-related activities.
Overall, the launch ceremony was a success, showcasing China’s achievements in the aerospace industry and fostering international cooperation in space exploration.
