Guangming Daily, Beijing, March 29 (Reporter Zhou Shixiang) – The Ministry of Education in China has officially launched an artificial intelligence-empowered education action as part of the National Smart Education Platform. This initiative was announced during the second-anniversary ceremony of the platform’s launch, which also marked the beginning of the “Year of Expanding Quality and Improving Quality.”
During the launch ceremony held in Beijing, Wu Yan, a member of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Education and Vice Minister, revealed that the National Smart Education Platform will introduce an “AI Learning” column. This section will feature lectures from renowned scientists, top engineers, and entrepreneurs on artificial intelligence in general education. Additionally, famous teachers will be teaching AI courses to help students understand the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and its practical applications.
Moreover, the Ministry of Education plans to implement a large model application demonstration action for artificial intelligence in the education system. This initiative aims to create a dedicated model for generative education through enhanced algorithms, richer datasets, and improved services.
In the effort to promote the integration of AI into digital education, the platform will introduce an AI intelligent translation function to make Chinese educational resources accessible in multiple languages. This move is seen as a step towards international collaboration in the field of digital education.
Wu Yan emphasized the importance of China’s participation in global digital education initiatives, such as the World Digital Education Alliance and the International Journal of Digital Education. By establishing a Chinese presence in the realm of artificial intelligence-empowered education, China aims to showcase its expertise and contribute significantly to the advancement of digital education on a global scale.
